Members of the Habsburg family are buried in three different churches—two of which are on this route. Between the Staatsoper and the Volksgarten lies the Vienna everyone comes to see, plus a layer of it that almost nobody notices. On this riddle tour through the city centre you'll walk from the opera house past the Albertina, the Capuchin Church and St. Stephen's Cathedral to the Plague Column on the Graben, ending in the imperial gardens. At 10 stops, riddles await that can only be solved on site: inscriptions, figures and details hiding in plain sight on the façades of the most photographed buildings in Austria. No guidebook or prior knowledge required, just keep your eyes open. All riddles can be solved from the outside; no admission tickets needed.
